Note: Zur Strassen (1980) treats\u00a0A. vigilans<\/em>\u00a0as an autonomous species, Mound & Marullo (1996) however\u00a0synonymised it with\u00a0A. distinguendus<\/em>. Retana-Salazar (2009) published a revision of Anactinothrips<\/em>\u00a0combining\u00a0vigilans<\/em>\u00a0with a\u00a0new genus:\u00a0Amerindiothrips<\/em>. The status of\u00a0A. vigilans<\/em>\u00a0is uncertain. Due to its different head shape the\u00a0synonymy with\u00a0A. distinguendus<\/em>\u00a0is rejected here. On\u00a0the other hand the\u00a0division of the genus\u00a0Anactinothrips\u00a0<\/em>according to Retana-Salazar\u00a0into numerous genera\u00a0appears needless and confusing.
