It is feeding and breeding on various grasses (<em data-start=\"220\" data-end=\"229\">Poaceae<\/em>, <em data-start=\"231\" data-end=\"243\">Cyperaceae<\/em>) and on Cattails (<em data-start=\"255\" data-end=\"262\">Typha<\/em>).<br \/>\n<em>Baliothrips dispar<\/em>\u00a0is highly variable: in Europe, females are hemimacropterous or macropterous, whereas males are exclusively micropterous. Micropterous females (forma <em data-start=\"449\" data-end=\"459\">sibirica<\/em>), however, \u00a0are known from colder regions.
