Described from England (T. brevicornis, T. dispar<\/i> (from Festuca fluitans, <\/i>Poaceae), B. agnessae, B. halidayi, B. exilis<\/i>), from Michigan USA (B. basalis<\/i>), der Styria, Austria (B. petzi<\/i>), from Russia (B. sibiricus, P. badius, T. sibirica<\/i>) and Albany (B. ustulatus<\/i>).<\/p>\n

Distribution: Eurosiberian, introduced into North America. Baliothrips dispar<\/em> is found in moist, grassy habitats, often along forest paths, woodland meadows, or pond margins. It is feeding and breeding on various grasses (Poaceae<\/em>, Cyperaceae<\/em>) and on Cattails (Typha<\/em>).
\nBaliothrips dispar<\/em>\u00a0is highly variable: in Europe, females are hemimacropterous or macropterous, whereas males are exclusively micropterous. Micropterous females (forma sibirica<\/em>), however, \u00a0are known from colder regions.
