Aptinothrips elegans
Biology and distribution
Described from Simontornya, Hungary from Lathyrus tuberosus (A. elegans) and Dalmatia, Dubrovnik, Croatia from lawn (A. mediterraneus).
Distribution: ponto-mediterranean, but also in dry and warm habitats in Central Europe; also reported from southern Sweden and southern Norway. Aptinothrips elegans is xerophilous and lives on various grasses.
Specimens southern Europe have antennal segment II rather egg-shaped (forma mediterranea).
