Bactrothrips brevitubus
Biology and distribution
Described from Japan (B. brevitubus; G. harukawai) and from Zhejiang, China (M. baishanzuensis).
Distribution: widespread in evergreen broad-leaved forests of southwestern Japan on Castanopsis cuspidata, C. sieboldii (Fagaceae), Quercus glauca, Q. salicina (Fagaceae), Cinnamomum camphora, C. japonicum (Lauraceae), Machilus japonica, M. thunbergii (Lauraceae), Neolitsea sericea (Lauraceae), etc.
Fungus-feeder on dead leaves.
