Biology and distribution
Described from India on shoots of Ailanthus excelsa; D. pumilus from Taiwan on Diospyros discolor; D. nesius from Guam on young leaves of Melastoma marianum and from Sri Lanka on Melastoma malabathricum.
Distribution: Widespread in tropical and subtropical regions; reported from India, Guam, Taiwan, Japan, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Barbados, Brasil, PuertoRico, Hawaii and Mauritius (Ulitzka unpublished).
Dolichothrips indicus is a polyphagous leaf-feeder on many different plants.
