Biology and distribution
Described from former Czechoslovakia (D. reuteri), Russia (D. viticola) and Finland (T. betulicola). Recorded from Britain, from the United States (California, Illinois) and from Chile.
Distribution: Palaearctic, widely spread in Europe; introduced to other continents.
Living on the leaves of different deciduous trees, commonly on Betula, Corylus or Quercus. In wine-growing regions pest on Vitis vinifera (»Vine thrips«).
