Fulmekiola serrata
Biology and distribution
Described from Java, Indonesia (T. serrata, F. interrupta, S. minutus), Taiwan from sugar cane (T. moultoni) and Philippines from citrus seedlings (T. armatus).
Distribution: This Oriental species is widespread between India and The Philippines. It has been introduced and is established in many other regions and has been recorded from: Asia (Bangladesch, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam), Africa (Mauritius, South-Africa), North America (Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Cuba, Dominica, Guadeloupe, St. Kitts & Nevis, Santa Lucia, St.Vincent & Grenadinen, Trinidad & Tobago) and South America (Venezuela).
Fulmekiola serrata causes serious damage to sugar cane. Breeding on the tightly curled young leaf spindles at the growing points of sugar cane, possibly also living on other Poaceae.
