Biology and distribution
Described from Austria (T. aculeatus, H. funebris, A. minor), Germany (P. albipennis, T. frumentarius), Japan (P. japonicus, P. oryzae), Hungary (H. crassicornis) and England (H. cephalotes).
Ubiquitous; however, mainly on grasses (“grass thrips”). H. aculeatus is a minor pest of cereals depending on the degree of crop infestation.
