Heliothrips angustior
Biology and distribution
Described from Suriname (H. angustior) and China (H. longisensibilis).
Distribution: widely distributed throughout the Neotropics, although no specimens have been found from Nearctic regions. Occurrence is confirmed from: Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Suriname and Trinidad as well as French Guyana (Ulitzka unpublished).
It also has been recorded in China and Thailand. Thus, specimens identified as H. haemorrhoidalis should be re-examined! The most noticeable feature are the long sense cones on antenna IV, which reach beyond the base of VI.
