Hercinothrips dimidiatus
Biology and distribution
Described from Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa from liliaceous plants.
Distribution: Africa (South Africa, Nigeria). Hercinothrips dimidiatus was introduced into California, USA, with Haworthia altilinea plants. In Europe, this thrips was first found in Portugal and later in the Gibraltar region as well as on Mallorca, mainly on Aloe arborescens. Further records came from Italy and the Netherlands, from imported Aloe vera and other succulents.
