Ponticulothrips diospyrosi
Biology and distribution
Described from Honshu, Japan from Diospyros kaki (Ebenaceae).
Distribution: At present known only from Japan (Honshu and Kyushu). Monophagous on persimmon (Diospyros kaki, Ebenaceae) this thrips causes damage to the leaves and fruits. Due to the wide cultivation of persimmon in Asia P. diospyrosi is likely to have a wider distribution than currently recorded.
