Biology and distribution

Described from Java on young top leaves of Ficus benjamina (M. uzeli, P. longitubus) and from Costa Rica (G. garitacambroneroi).

Distribution: Originated from South East Asia, G. uzeli was introduced in many other regions, particularly in the Americas including Galapagos Islands. It also has been reported from northern Australia and New Caledonia.
G. uzeli is breeding within rolled-leaf galls and it is specific to Ficus benjamina (Moraceae). In Europe it is found in glasshouses only.
