Biology and distribution
Described from Tanzania (P. sjostedti), Angola (L. inopinatus), Comoro islands, Seychelles (P. variabilis), Uganda (T. meridiana, T. tenuis),
Distribution: widespread in Africa, introduced into Saudi Arabia.
Megalurothrips sjostedti is breeding in flowers and on leaves of different Legumes (Fabaceae). Often reported as a serious pest of cowpeas (Vigna unguiculata).
