Biology and distribution
Described from New Guinea (A. sanguineus, E. crassipes), Philippines (I. tibialis, E. philippinensis), Sri Lanka (O. steinskyi), Malaysia (E. bryanti, E. coxalis, E. flavipes), Indonesia (E. consanguineus), Australia (E. io), Tanzania (E. priesneri), Taiwan (E. matsumurai, E. formosensis) and India (E. fletcheri, E. ramakrihnai, E. erythrinus).
Distribution: Wide spread in tropical and subtropical regions; reported from India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Guinea, Philippines, China (Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Gansu, Taiwan), Vietnam, Singapur, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Tanzania, Mauritius and Rodriguez.
Ecanthothrips tibialis is a fungus feeder on decaying wood.
