Haplothrips (Trybomiella) nigricornis
Biology and distribution
Described from Cape Town, South Africa on Diplopappus, Europs, Olipterus and Sebaea flowers (H. nigricornis) and from Pirie, South Africa (H. unicolor).
Distribution: Widespread in Southeast Africa; reported from Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Namibia, former Rhodesia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Uganda. H. nigricornis has also been recorded in Yemen and India, and furthermore, it ranks among the twenty most frequently intercepted thrips at U.S. ports-of-entry from Africa.
