Biology and distribution
Described from Gran Canaria, Canary Islands (Spain) from Eupatorium adenophorum.
Distribution: Prosopothrips titschacki is known from the Canary Islands and the Madeira Archipelago. This species occurs mainly in short, fresh grassland vegetation and is found particularly on grasses and in low-growing, grass-rich herbaceous vegetation. Recorded host or collecting plants include Statice pectinata var. incompleta and Chrysanthemum frutescens.
On La Gomera, P. titschacki can be locally common on Rubia fruticosa (Rubiaceae) during summer, when much of the grass vegetation has already dried out. The species occurs from lowland habitats up to elevations of about 1,400 m.
