Biologie und Verbreitung

Beschrieben aus Florida USA (A. dozieri), Barbados (A. gowdeyi), Hawaii USA (A. usitatus), Kuba (A. variabilis), Kenia (H. brevicollis), Tansania (H. karnyi), Sri Lanka (H. soror, H. sororcula) und von den Seychellen (H. mahensis).

Verbreitung: Weit verbreitet und häufig in subtropischen und tropischen Ländern. Nachweise aber auch aus Japan. Vermutlich stammt die Art aus dem tropischen Afrika; Männchen wurden bisher nur dort nachgewiesen.

Vorkommen: Auf vielen unterschiedlichen Pflanzen, v.a. in Blüten, aber auch an Gräsern. Ob die Art sich teilweise zoophag ernährt ist nicht eindeutig geklärt.
