Biologie und Verbreitung

Beschrieben von den Bermudas (P. eucharii) von Eucharis x grandiflora (Amaryllidaceae), aus Taiwan (T. gracilis) von Bohnenblüten und aus Tokyo, Japan (T. rohdeae) von Rohdea japonica (Fabaceae).

Verbreitung: Die Art stammt aus Ostasien, wurde aber zuerst von den Bermudas beschrieben. Sie ist aus Korea, China, Taiwan, Malaysia und Japan bekannt, wurde aber durch den Pflanzenhandel nach Nordaustralien, Hawaii und Kalifornien (USA) verschleppt. In Europa wurde Taeniothrips eucharii in den Niederlanden erfasst, sowie zweimal in Deutschland (in Nordrhein-Westfalen und Baden-Württemberg, Ulitzka unveröffentlicht).
Taeniothrips eucharii lebt auf Blättern aber auch auf Zwiebeln und in Blüten verschiedener Lilien- und Amaryllisgewächse wie Crinum, Eucharis, Hymenocallis, Liriope, Lycoris, Narcissus und Zephyranthes. Die Art verursacht manchmal eine leichte Verfärbung an den Blattansätzen von Lilien. Taeniothrips eucharii gilt zudem als Überträger des Hippeastrum Chlorotic Ringspot Virus (HCRV).
